Problem: The laptop X301A was installed by GHOST windows version, no can not boot. Customer do not want to lose the data on the other partition apart from the C drive.

First step diagnose:  After booting into Windows PE, USB devices can not be read. no system reserved partition, so it was installed by GHOST image before.

Reboot and enter the BIOS setting:

BIOS:2011 American Megatrends. version 2.14.1219.

Intel I3 2.3MHZ, 2GB RAM, 320G hard drive.

Enter the Advanced tab > USB configuration > Legacy USB support: change to Auto; XHCI Pre-boot Mode: change to Smart Auto.

Then the machine can read USB, use GHOST to install windows 7
